There are still some people who don’t know as to what is the difference between a chemist and a chemical engineer. Some even have misconstrued it as the same, while some have entirely misled some people to believe differently.

Some people think that chemists’ works on a lab, using test tubes and flasks, while chemical engineers works on industrial scale. It may sound viable, however it’s not correct and can be misleading as well.
Chemistry for everybody’s information is a science and not based entirely on a scale, Astro chemists may often work on dimensions larger that its whole industry, analyzing every composition of the whole planet. While industrial chemists often works in pilot plants which are not on the scale of a laboratory, considering that they may work on certain issues of  heat and mass transport…etc.

NASA chemists on the other hand, need to figure out which material would be proper to fuse for a new spaceship. Environmental chemist works on analyzing for clean pollutants in an area covering the size of a land area or a beach.

On the contraire, chemical engineers may also work on test tubes. Checking out new materials and see to it that it works for a certain procedure, so then, you may wonder and ask yourself. What is the difference between the two?

There are two things that you may think about. Some chemist may design, however they only design instrumental methods in resolving certain materials.
An industrial chemist analyzes a procedure to find its chemistry, not necessarily to design the unit’s operation. Chemical engineers on the other hand, are the ones which do the designing taking into account the exact operation for a given procedure. However, if the main focus of the chemical engineer would be the unit operation. What is it that will make a person recognize that chemists should not be considered as incomplete chemical engineer?

It’s simple really, no matter who made the design of a certain molecules and instruments. As long as you may be able to find out who could figure out the given formula first, be it’s the chemist or the chemical engineer. Considering that both of them can actually design molecules and instruments, and both can formulate chemical structures as well.

Therefore, they both have a bond. They can work hand in hand but they aren’t the same. Chemical engineering is more on physics and math rather than chemistry, while chemists are more on chemistry. Dealing on chemical knowledge and information on kinds of compounds and principles, however, during their training they both have to take Physics and calculus.
