MATLAB is a numerical computing environment and fourth-generation programming language. Developed by The MathWorks, MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages languages, including C, C++, and Fortran. Matlab began as a high-level programming language for working with matrices. Over time it has expanded to become a fairly general-purpose language.

It is quite difficult for somebody to learn Matlab by his own. Hence, a more easy and faster way to learn matlab is by using video. Hence, it is our intention to introduce, expose and slowly provide good videos that can teach matlab effectively.

This is Part 1 of a slide-based introduction to Matlab intended for beginners. It comes from a course I teach as part of an online Masters degree program in engineering (http://mepp.engr.wisc.edu/). Higher resolution versions of this video can be found at http://blanchard.ep.wisc.edu
