Progress in chemical engineering has been phenomenal in last few years. The heartening fact is, this is all-round progress i.e. all subdivisions such as applied chemistry, study in kinetics and reaction, process systems engineering, estimation of chemical property and thermodynamics all have played important part in chemical engineering progress.

There are no hard and fast rules regarding these subdivisions that are created for organizational convenience. Thus division boundaries are not rigid.

Chemical engineering is a field which involves creation with discovery. It is a part of various natural sciences where scientists are willing to find out the components of the chemical world, from atoms and molecules to organized chemical systems such as living cells, whole organisms and devices.

Chemical engineering can be used in, manufacturing of a wide variety of products such as chemicals, ceramics, fuels and petrochemicals, products needed for agriculture such as  fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, oleo chemicals, explosives which are expected to use for noble purpose,  soap, shampoo, home appliance such as cleaning fluids, detergents and detergent products. Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemical engineering to identify and solve relevant technical problems.

Engineers are looking forward to have better understanding of physical world and then blend that understanding seamlessly in creating better new world. In simple words, engineers and scientists are willing to collaborate with scientists and engineers in other scientific disciplines to achieve better results.

Engineers are aiming to associate properties of all substances to their detailed chemical composition, irrespective of their origin (natural or man made) that includes the atomic arrangements of all the essential chemical components too. They want to achieve this with existing as well as non existing substances.

Engineers are also looking to understand substances and transformations that occur in the natural world

along with transformations which are permitted by natural laws. To achieve this they are rigorously working in synthetic chemistry where instead of finding new molecules, substances and chemical transformations in nature; they are artificially created. One can understand speed of these operations by the fact that every year, they create more than a million new chemical compounds which contain new molecules that may have different atomic structure too. Every time when there is a discovery of new and useful substance, it should be seen as a great help for the society as it can help us enormously in our day to day life. For E.g. discovery of biodegradable plastic is very useful service in protecting our environment and reducing pollution.

Looking at larger picture scientists also want to understand biological properties of all the natural and manmade substances during this process they are looking to understand molecular structure of substances in all living creatures along with the transformations that are essential in any life process. This will work as a great boost for medicine sector and will help common people directly.

To carry uninterrupted chemical engineering progress further, engineers should find out whether our traditional and disciplinary substructure is serving its purpose, or hampering the flow of the progress and take appropriate actions according to that. It is extremely important to understand, develop and manipulate information on regular basis to create scientific understanding of chemical engineering and make it beneficial for society.
