TEHRAN: Some six important petrochemical projects, worth US$2 billion, will be inaugurated in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari at Assaluyeh, Bushehr province, Tuesday, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported. The nominal capacity of the projects is 3.14 million tonnes a year. The schemes will be inaugurated on the eve of the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution which is marked in the country each year on Feb 1-11. The project accounts for a major part of the petrochemical sector. Once the projects go on stream, they will create 1,600 jobs directly and 20,000 jobs indirectly in the province. Assaluyeh is located on the shore of the Persian Gulf some 270 km southwest of the provincial capital of Bushehr. It is best known as the site for the land based facilities of the huge petrochemical sector of Iran Pars Special Economic and Energy Zone.
