Questions

1. Do you know what is biofuel?

2. Do you know what is first-generation biofuel?

3. Do you know what is second-generation biofuel?

4. Do you know that the technology is currently developing third-generation biofuel?

Answers

1. In short biofuel is fuel that is produced from living objects such as plants and crops. It is developed as an alternative fuel to overcome the shortage of fossil fuel (petroleum and natural gas).

2. First generation biofuel is fuel which is developed from food sources, such as maize, palm oil and sunflower oil. It was initially hailed as a lower-carbon, renewable fuel source but not long afterwards caused something of a worldwide backlash as the food- versus-fuel debate emerged.

3. Second-generation biofuel employ biomass arising from the nonfood parts of crops, such as stems, bunches, leaves and husks, or even nonfood crops, such as switch grass and jatropha.

4. Third-generation biofuel is basically seeking to extract fuel from algae.

P/s: Do you know that the fourth-generation biofuel is also on the way…
