Theme:‘Mechanization Toward Sustainable Agro-business’
The recent global food crisis has raised serious concerns on the availability and security of food for Malaysia. Several programs and policies were initiated by the government to improve and strengthen the agricultural and agro-based industry. Sustainable and efficient use of modern technologies could help to alleviate these challenges. Mechanization is one of the important elements of agricultural modernization. The Malaysian import of agricultural machinery groues at the rate of 8.3% per year for the last five years. However, the adoption of mechanization is still low among the commercial farms. Further adoption of new technologies through effective technological development and promotion is needed. This conference intends to provide a platform for all players in agriculture and food industries in Malaysia to deliberate and address productivity related issue that are besetting Malaysian agriculture. It also aims to share experiences and seek opportunities on the adoption and application of cost effective mechanization technology.
